Emarat commences the expansion works of the Fujairah Storage Unit for Storing and Distributing Petroleum Products
Emarat has commenced the construction works of the expansion project at the Fujairah Storage Unit for storing and distributing gas oil, fuel, gasoline and jet fuel. The expansion shall increase the storing capacity to be 250 thousand cubic meters in an initiative aimed to promote the storing units network of the Corporation in the UAE with a total cost of AED 250 million.

The foregoing project shall provide many services of additional value including storage in addition to meeting the increasing demand for petroleum derivatives storage in the area and the improvement of cargo sector together with commercial transaction, international trade, retail sales and meeting the requirements of ships, electricity stations and other commercial and economic sector of diesel.

Engineer Omar Abdullah Al Shamsi, Logistic & Trading Manager at Emarat, announced that after the completion of this project, it shall contribute in opening new scopes to develop the fuel storing sector in the area in accordance with the strategic location of Fujairah Port and to the role to be played in improving the local and international economy.


He said that Emarat relies on its long expertise in managing fuel storage units, and it seeks to promote this project among international partners in the petroleum field. The Corporation is currently managing five storage units with a total capacity of 383 thousand cubic meters, and these units are distributed in different areas in the UAE. In addition, there are two more storage units managed with international partners with a total storage capacity of 285 thousand cubic meters indicating that after the completion of the construction works of the project, the storing capacity of Fujairah Storing Unit shall increase from 50 thousand cubic meters to 250 thousand cubic meters.


Engineer Omar A. Al Zaffin, Manager Engineering Operations, said that the design of the new tanks complies with the highest criteria of safety, as they employ control systems in accordance with international standards. Also, the project is situated in a strategic area that facilitates supplying fuel to commercial ships, as it has its routes to shipping docks in Fujairah Port, the African markets and the Indian Peninsula.

Engineer Al Zaffin further said that the project will be managed by Emarat and supervised by a trained and qualified team that has the required expertise and capability to run such a project.
